We are recruiting
The Dos Santos Lab launched on September 1, 2026, at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. We study how evolution shapes skeletal muscle performance and how hibernating mammals preserve muscle during prolonged inactivity.

Who we’re looking for
Postdoctoral fellows: We welcome researchers with doctoral training in molecular biology, genetics, physiology, bioinformatics, or a related field who want to develop projects in skeletal muscle biology.
PhD student: We welcome curious students interested in muscle development, adaptation, evolution, or disease.
Skills we value
Relevant experience may include single-nucleus RNA-seq or ATAC-seq, comparative genomics or bioinformatics, molecular and cell biology, muscle physiology, mouse genetics, or 3D muscle organoids. No candidate is expected to have every one of these skills. Experimental and computational scientists are both encouraged to contact us.
We value motivation, careful thinking, and a willingness to learn across disciplines. Prior experience in muscle research is welcome but not essential.
How to apply
